That can put a large dent in your personal budget spreadsheet. Crazy! Instead, you might want to get innovative and occupy your children free or almost free over the summer months. Library and bookstore activities are always available. On top of regular year-round storytimes, a lot of libraries and bookstores rev up their summertime offerings for kids to include visits by authors, book clubs and craft classes '" all at a low budget friendly price, and at times totally free. Local libraries may even host cartoonists, clowns, magicians, and more.

Try a babysitting co-op. Your associates with children are in the same place you are '" a long summer season with no ease in sight. You can always team up to provide one another support. Enlist several of your associates with children, and every family takes one day a week to host the kids for 3-4. One day a week in exchange for 3-4 days of leisure is an excellent trade off!

Try vacation Bible schools in the summer season. Week-long day camps are a mainstay for a lot of church youth programs. Most of the time the cost is minimal as the activities are subsidized by the churches. The youth are given crafts, songs, outdoor activities, and more. If you do it right, you could sign up for several camps at different churches close by. In some cases parents are enrolled for staffing, snacks, etc., so be aware of the requirements before you commit.

Mother's little helper. Now, if you've got younger children, you may want an extra pair of hands to assist you entertain them while you get important work finished around your place. And if you have older kids, you may just need someone to keep an eye on them to stop the dining room from becoming a bedlam. In either case, a mother's helper might be your ticket. Usually a 'mama's helper' is younger than a babysitter hired to watch the kids during the time that you're out. A mama's helper also would in most cases charge less than an average high school sitter. This is perfect for part-time, at home help.

Begin your own part-time daycare. Convert your pain into a gain, and watch other people's children at your home for pay. Most states don't require licensing for casual babysitting of just a few kids, but always check with your town and state to make certain you're fulfilling all prerequisites. Make sure you have a schedule that stays structured in order to give reliable service. Offering a safe and fun place for several children to remain while their parents are working may be a great alternative to your own family's summer activities.
